Our school participates in the ESSD

On September 29th our school participated in the European School Sports Day. This activity was held in Marsaskala.  All the children from St Thomas More Marsaskala Primary participated in this event.

The ESSD is a European Initiative and its aim is to promote physical activity on an international level among students and youths that attend schools and other organizations.

For this occasion our school chose various areas of Marsaskala in which the activities could take place. The school grounds were selected for Year 1 students to carry out various exercises.

Year 2 students went for a walk along the Marsaskala promenade.  The Year 3 and 4 students had a tougher challenge – their walk encompassed the Zonqor area (close to St Nicholas Chapel), the Bidni Area and the Family Park. Here they stopped for a short break to rest their weary legs and soon after made their journey back to school.

The Year 5 and 6 students walked to the Family Park and had the opportunity to practise some of the sports available for the day such as Hockey, Athletics, Football, Weightlifting, Basketball and Rugby.

All the students showed great enthusiasm for this activity.
